But actually, though, on February 3rd to the 5th, take a second, and think about what you were doing. I can tell you what you probably weren't doing. You probably weren't in New York City, ogling the loves of my life, shoes. Many many many many many (I could keep going...) many beautiful pairs of shoes. Well, let me tell you what fabulous event you missed. The New York Shoe Expo, sponsored by FFANY. What is FFANY, besides an acronym that brings up image of those all-too-sexy fanny packs? Well letmeletyouinontheknow. From their website:
"Incorporated in 1980, The Fashion Footwear Association of New York, known as FFANY, is a not for profit trade association representing footwear manufacturers globally. FFANY's mission is to promote and assist the common business interests of our members who include over 300 footwear manufacturers, representing over 800 fashion footwear brands."
Oh, and it gets even better. It not only functions as an event for those who experience an intense aesthetic response to the sight of beyootiful shoes, but you can actually feel good about giving into your vices. FFANY not only organizes the New York Shoe Expo, but also once a year, arranges an event called "FFANY Shoes on Sale", which is sponsored by the FFCF. And from their website:
"The Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation (FFCF) is the 501(c)(3) charitable organization on which leads the industry's fundraising efforts for innovative breast cancer research. FFCF sponsors 'FFANY Shoes on Sale' each year to benefit some of the nation's most distinguished breast cancer research hospitals and foundations."
Sooooo... looking at shoes, buying shoes, and helping with the fight against breast cancer? Could this world get any better? Of course it could. People could no longer go hungry. There could complete and total world peace. There could be clean water for all. We could stop ruining our planet day by day with pollution and trash and violence. But for now, let's focus on the little goodness that's left on this planet we call home. And just because I'm nice, revel in the glory of these fabulous creations.
